Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0220111A2] 1. Apparatus for training in tennis, constituted by a receptacle defined by uprights (7) forming a structure (1) of parallelepipedal external shape which is closed on its sides and supported by four legs (2, 4), one pair of which carries movable portions permitting height variation of these latter, the lower upright of the structure being provided with a front extension which is articulated at its point of junction and is provided with a tie-rod for rigidifying the complete assembly, said extension as well as the remainder of the uprights being intended to provide assistance in supporting a net (12) which is subdivided into different zones and has a tendency to be parabolic in shape, closes the apparatus both at the bottom and at the rear, which has a front extension and remains in a stationary position by means of a balance weight placed at its bottom portion, said net (12) being continuously stretched at the rear end by means of a transverse plate (47) in its first zone whilst the end of a second zone (44) is attached to a pivoting trap door (16) which closes the apparatus in the top rear portion thereof, said trap door being provided with another net (19) suspended from one of the plates which form said trap door whilst the remainder of the top surface is covered by a net (19) which is folded so as to form an angle about a pin (20) with its ends attached by means of two bars, one of which is connected to a tension spring whilst the other slides within lateral guides (23), thus making it possible to move said ends towards each other or away from each other so as to produce a greater length of the net (19) whilst the apparatus is closed at the rear end by two plates connected together by means of a hinge so that the top plate should have the possibility of moving and uncovering the internal portion of the apparatus in a larger zone than when it is lowered whereas on two sides of the apparatus which are visible from the front, there exist two wide portions (42) which assist the player in centring the entrance opening of the apparatus.
