[origin: EP0221042A2] Gas producer comprising, in series, a fuel storage hopper, a combustion hearth, a zone for extracting gas out of the hearth and removing solid residues and means for gas treatment, consisting especially of a discharge chimney arranged inside the gas generator enclosure and consisting of two substantially coaxial conduits between which a space is arranged for circulating the gas; the chimney is responsible for intercepting the gas in the lower part of the enclosure and circulating the gas firstly upwards via the external conduit as far as the level of the combustion zone and then downwards via the internal conduit as far as the gas exit piping; an elongate metal member integrally attached to the lid closing off the upper part of the external conduit and which passes through this lid, is immersed inside the internal conduit of the chimney, coaxially with this conduit; this elongate member is advantageously servo-controlled by the device for controlling the grid employed to hold the charge and to extract solid residues therefrom, by mechanical means which comprise devices for converting the horizontal translation movement of the grid into an alternating rising and falling movement of the elongate member. <IMAGE>
