Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0222734A2] A press 3 for compacting beverage cans, with an eccentric introduction of force into the empty beverage can to overcome its dimensional stability, comprises a press plunger 4 which is displaceable up against a press platen 25. The press plunger is connected rigidly to a piston rod which is connected via an angle lever 5 to a tension rod 8 and also to a foot lever 9. The press 3 is fastened to a holding shackle 2 which bridges a container 1 and which is pivotable upwards in the same way as a container lid 18. The filling shaft 6 of the press 3 is closed by a filling-shaft flap 7 which, during filling, swings into the filling shaft and temporarily blocks the press plunger 4 and which releases the press plunger 4 again only when it swings back into the initial position (closing position of the filling shaft). <IMAGE>
