[origin: EP0223232A2] The air compressor, as a unit with a drive motor, a compressor means connected to the drive motor, and a pressure vessel with a compressed-air inlet opening and an outlet opening, is designed in such a way that it can alternatively be used as a spraying device for liquids or powdery substances, for which its pressure vessel (14) can be used as a material container with a compressed-air cushion in combination with a suitable application device for the material to be sprayed and to this end is additionally provided on its top side with a relatively large opening for loading the material to be sprayed and for cleaning, which opening can be tightly closed by means of a lid (26) in a pressure-resistant manner. <IMAGE>
