[origin: EP0223422A2] Drive to the sliver feed roll 11 of a fibre-opening unit of an open-end spinner is interrupted by de-activation of a clutch 2, 6, 7, 8 and simultaneously further rotation of the input shaft 4 of a worm 9 and pinion 10 mechanism is blocked against further rotation by release of a spring finger 13 into the path of peripheral teeth on a disc 12. Upon a yarn break sensed by a detector 15, the clutch is de-energised and the spring finger 13 released to arrest and lock the disc 12.
