Device for placing waste in the storage containers of garbage collecting vehicles of the type mounted in a hopper (1) rear hinged loading of the said storage container (2) and bearing a discharge shoe (3) and at least one mobile flap (4) which, in extended position, pushes the garbage into the container and masks the bottom of the said hopper and located, in retracted position, in a housing (6) at the rear of the loading hopper (1), and means for angularly actuating the discharge shoe (3) between an initial retracted position and a final extended position, device characterized in that it includes : - means for, on the one hand, during extension, bringing the front end of the flap or flaps (4) closer to the upper surface of the shoe (3) and for driving the shoe (3) and the said flap or flaps simultaneously when the said shoe has reached a predetermined angular position, adjustable as far as the final extended position and, on the other hand, during retraction, for driving the shoe (3) and the flap or flaps (4) simultaneously as far as a predetermined position and for removing the front end(s) of the flap or flaps (4) from the upper surface of the shoe (3) once the said predetermined position is reached and, simultaneously at the end of the stroke of the shoe to its initial retracted position.
