Abstract (en)
A method of securing a stator (38) in an electrical machine including a casing (10), a rotor (14) mounted within the casing (10) and a stator (38) which is axially slidable with respect to the casing (10) and adapted for mounting coaxially about the rotor (14), the method comprising the steps of wedging the stator (38) in position by means of co-operating annular chamfer surfaces (40.1, 26.2, 42.1) at each end of the stator (38) and pressing the casing (10) and stator (38) assembly together to ensure wedging in position of the stator (38).
