Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0225487A1] 1. Fuel injection nozzle for, in particular, self-ignition-type internal-combustion engines, comprising a nozzle housing (10, 62) which, in the installed condition, protrudes from an installation hole (56) of the engine casing (34) at least over a part of its length and the protruding area of which is provided with a central threaded stub (20) for connecting a fuel line, characterized by the following features : a) a protective cap (40, 60), which is known per se, is constructed as an inherently rigid component which is at least approximately adapted to the shape of the area of the nozzle housing (10, 62) protruding from the engine casing (34) and consists of a material having spring-elastic properties, preferably plastic ; b) the protective cap (40, 60) exhibits at its side facing away from the engine casing an opening through which the threaded stub (20) of the nozzle housing (10, 62) penetrates when the protective cap (40, 60) is pushed onto the nozzle housing (10, 62) ; c) the protective cap (40, 60) also exhibits at its side facing away from the engine casing elastically deflectable wall sections (43, 74) which point towards the opening and which are separated from one another by slots and which lockingly engage behind a shoulder, pointing towards the engine casing, of the threaded stub (20).
