[origin: EP0226027A2] A tacker (1) with a power drive (3, 4) and a repeat-action control allows the rapid fixing of a series of fasteners, with the handle (33) for triggering a driver impact being actuated continuously. For releasing the driver impact, there is then a feeler (15) which belongs to the repeat-action control and which is moved when the tacker (1) is attached to an appliance. To ensure uniform insertion of the fasteners and to prevent contact burn-up if the tacker unintentionally swings back as a result of the reaction force, with the solenoid (4) being drawn into the magnet coil (3) (power drive), a directional limit- force catch mechanism (61-67) is inserted in the path of the feeler (15). When the tacker (1) is attached to a workpiece, this mechanism generates a pressure force, by means of which the restraining force of the catch of the directional limit-force catch mechanism (61-67) can be overcome. This overriding force is sufficient both to bring the tacker (1) firmly to bear on the work piece before the activation of the driver impact and to overcome the said reaction force. <IMAGE>
