Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0226694A2] Spaces, particularly interior spaces of motor vehicles, are monitored and the penetration of persons or objects is detected. An electromagnetic wave field is radiated into the space at one point. At another point, it impinges on a receiver, possibly after a reflection. The special feature is that the wave field has a spatial structure. This results in a relative intensity minimum and a relative intensity maximum at the receiver. The difference between these is formed in the rest state and is stored as reference value. When a thief enters the space, this difference changes. This is detected by intelligent electronics and triggers an alarm. A thief cannot determine the spatial structure imposed on the wave field. The monitoring system according to the invention can thus not be outwitted and operates free of interference. <IMAGE>
