[origin: US4748910A] To exert tension on a moving web, typically a paper web pulled over a folding former of a printing machine, the pull-off rollers are formed with axial grooves which are filled with strips of elastic material, such as plastic or rubber; preferably, the width of the ribs, which can be steel, is slightly less than the circumferential width of the elastic insert strips to provide for slight pinching of engagement surfaces between the ribs (9) and the elastic insert strips (10)-see FIG. 2. The strips and ribs extend over the entire axial length of the rollers to provide an axially uniform tension over the entire width of the web material.

Ein Zugswalzenpaar umfaßt zwei Stahlwalzen, die in jeweils über ihren gesamten Umfang in Achsrichtung verlaufend Nuten und Stege aufweisen. Die Nuten werden mit einem Material ausgefüllt, das elastischer als das Material der Stege ist. Die Breite der Stege ist gleich oder kleiner als die Breite der elastischen Streifen. Durch die versetzte Anordnung der elastischen Streifen und der Stege zwischen den beiden Walzen kann jeweils ein weniger elastischer Steg in einen elastischen Streifen eindringen, wodurch an den Kantenbereichen der Stege Quetschbereiche erzeugt werden, die einen gleichmäßigen Zug über die gesamte Breite der Walze ermöglichen.
