[origin: US4813253A] A closing device includes a keeper provided with a retaining element for retaining a bolt in the keeper in a closed position of the device. The retaining element is mounted to be pivotable about and to be axially movable on a rod provided in the keeper and is resiliently biased to both axially slide on and pivot about the rod in such manner that, in an active position, the retaining element projects into an extension of an opening into which the bolt is capable of entering so as to close the device, and it is brought to a retracted position by axially sliding along the rod while being automatically returned to its active position from its retracted position as soon as the bolt is extracted from the keeper under the effect of the resilient force exerted by a spring.

Ce dispositif de verrouillage comporte une gâche (3) munie d'un organe de retenue (12) susceptible de retenir un pêne (4) dans la gâche en position fermée du dispositif. Cet organe de retenue (12) est monté mobile en rotation et en translation sur une tige (13) prévue dans la gâche en étant sollicité élastiquement à la fois à coulissement et à rotation sur cette tige de telle façon qu'en position active, cet organe fasse saillie dans le prolongement d'une ouverture (5) de la gâche dans laquelle le pêne est susceptible de pénétrer pour fermer le dispositif et qu'il soit amené en position escamotée, par coulissement sur ladite tige tout en étant automatiquement ramené dans sa position active à partir de sa position escamotée dès que le pêne est extrait de la gâche sous l'effet de la force élastique exercée par le ressort (14).
