[origin: WO8601953A1] A switch for operation by a finger F at a side of a glass plate (106) remote from the switch has an infra red emitting diode (104) and a phototransistor (107), which are mounted close to each other and the glass plate. A moulding (109) prevents transmission directly from the diode to the phototransistor whereby circuitry provided can detect presence of the finger according to whether the finger reflects transmission from the diode to the phototransistor or not. In one embodiment, the circuitry includes means (115) for sampling and holding the received signal, means (117) for amplifying it by a certain percentage and means (116) for comparing the held amplified signal with the non-amplified signal.

Un commutateur actionné par un doigt F sur une face d'une plaque de verre (106) éloignée du commutateur possède une diode (104) émettant des infrarouges et un phototransistor (107) qui sont montés l'une à côté de l'autre et près de la plaque de verre. Un moulage (109) empêche une transmission directe de la diode au phototransistor, et le montage ainsi conçu peut détecter la présence du doigt selon que celui-ci réfléchit ou non les infrarouges transmis par la diode au phototransistor. Dans un mode de réalisation, le montage comprend des éléments (115) permettant l'échantillonnage et le maintien du signal reçu, des éléments (117) pour amplifier ce signal dans une certaine proportion et des éléments (116) pour comparer le signal maintenu amplifié avec le signal non amplifié.
