[origin: EP0228632A2] The injection system for the load-dependent injection of the fuel into a cylinder of a diesel engine in two partial injections, a pre-injection (V) and a main injection (H), is designed in such a way that, at low loads - under, for example, 20 - 50% of the full load - the injected fuel quantity is not distributed over the pre-injection (V) and the main injection (H). Thus irregularities in the fuel injection at the low total fuel quantities which are required at low loads are prevented. <IMAGE>
