[origin: WO8607327A1] A novel rigging for a sailboat in which the mainsail (32) is mounted between a luff boom (52) and a foot boom (30), the luff boom being attached to the top of the mast (50) by a fitting (54) that allows rotation at least about a vertical axis parallel to the mast and about a tilt axis normal to the mast such that the luff boom can tilt out of the vertical. The fitting is joined to the luff boom at a pivot point above the center of effort of the sail, and not necessarily at its head. A tack sheet (56) and a clew sheet (48) restrict the tilt of the luff boom and its rotation around the mast. A jib sail (110), too, may be tiltably mounted by attaching it to a luff boom (118) which is suspended at its head from a high point on the mast. The mast may be retractable or extendable and either luff boom may be given a stream-lined cross section.

Dans un gréage novateur de bateaux à voiles, la grand'voile (32) est montée entre le gui de lof (52) et un gui de bordure (30). Le gui de lof est attaché au sommet du mât (50) par un raccord (54) qui lui permet de pivoter au moins autour d'un axe vertical parallèle au mât et autour d'un axe d'inclinaison perpendiculaire au mât, de sorte que le gui de lof peut quitter la position verticale en s'inclinant. Le raccord est connecté au gui de lof à un point de pivotement au-dessus du point vélique de la voile, et n'est pas nécessairement situé à son sommet. Une voile de bordée (56) et une voile de point d'écoute (48) limitent l'inclinaison du gui de lof et sa rotation autour du mât. Un foc (110) peut lui aussi être monté de façon pivotable en l'attachant à un gui de lof (118) suspendu par son sommet à un point élevé du mât. Le mât peut se rétracter ou s'étendre et l'un ou l'autre guis de lof peuvent avoir une section transversale aérodynamique.
