[origin: US4710276A] Substantially hollow jewelry items made from metals, particularly precious metals, can be produced galvanoplastically, in that the metal is electrolytically deposited on an electrically conductive mould core having the spatial contour of the jewelry item, after reaching the desired coating thickness the core is chemically or thermally dissolved and the core material removed through an opening in the metal coating. In order to be able to provide such jewelry items with stones, particularly gems or semiprecious stones, the mould core is provided in the vicinity of the gem mount with a mould surface forming the gem support and nose, web or ring-like projections surrounding the same and that after removing the core material the gem is placed on the gem support and the mount parts formed by the projections are pressed onto the gem.

Weitgehend hohl ausgebildete Schmuckwaren aus Metallen, insbesondere Edelmetallen, lassen sich auf galvanoplastischem Weg herstellen, indem auf einem die räumliche Kontur des Schmuckstücks (1) aufweisenden, elektrisch leitenden Formkern (6) das Metall elektrolytisch abgeschieden, nach Erreichen der gewünschten Schichtdicke der Kern auf chemischem oder thermischem Weg aufgelöst und das Kernmaterial durch eine Öffnung in der Metallschicht entfernt wird. Um solche Schmuckwaren auch mit Steinen, insbesondere Edelsteinen oder Halbedelsteinen ausstatten zu können, ist vorgesehen, daß der Formkern im Bereich der Fassung für den Stein (3) mit einer eine Steinauflage (4) bildenden Formfläche und mit diese umgebenden nasen-, steg- oder ringartigen Ansätzen versehen wird und daß nach dem Entfernen des Kernmaterials der Stein auf die Steinauflage aufgesetzt wird und die von den Ansätzen gebildeten Fassungsteile an den Stein angedrückt werden.
