[origin: WO8700503A1] Boom, consisting of two boom arms (6 and 7), each connected to a jaw (8 and 9). Between the jaws (8 and 9), a mast (1) is held in position. Behind the mast (1), the jaws (8 and 9) are connected by a joint (10). The sail being stretched between the end of the boom opposite the boomhead (Fig. 1, 11) and the mast (Fig. 1, 1), the boomhead will - when stressed - benefit from the elasticity of the joint. This decreases the distance between the jaws, resulting in the mast being locked. The harder the rig is stressed, the stronger the mast and boom are connected.

Bôme constituée de deux bras (6 et 7) chacun étant relié à une mâchoire (8 et 9). Entre ces mâchoires (8 et 9), un mât (1) est maintenu en positon. Derrière le mât (1), les mâchoires (8 et 9),sont reliées par une articulation (10). La voile étant tendue entre l'extrémité de la bôme opposée à la tête de bôme (Fig. 1, 11) et le mât (Fig. 1, 1), la tête de bôme bénéficiera, lorsqu'elle est soumise à une contrainte, de l'élasticité de l'articulation. Cela réduit la distance entre les mâchoires, ce qui a pour effet de bloquer le mât. La liaison entre le mât et la bôme est d'autant plus solide que le gréement est soumis à des contraintes plus sévères.
