[origin: US4723701A] A wrapped article and a method of packaging it in a wrapper of sealable material includes the steps of surrounding the article about its side faces with the wrapper, providing the wrapper with a longitudinal seam to obtain a wrapper sleeve projecting beyond the end faces; flattening the wrapper sleeve beyond the end faces and providing transverse seams in the wrapper sleeve beyond the end faces to obtain fins projecting therebeyond, folding each fin along a root edge thereof against the respective end face to extend parallel thereto; folding side margins of each fin through 180 DEG along respective side edges onto the fin; and folding an outer edge zone of each fin through 180 DEG along a respective top edge onto a respective end face.

Aus siegelbarem Material (1) wird unter Bildung einer Längssiegelnaht (2) ein Schlauch geformt. Stirnseitig der zu verpackenden Stückgüter wird der Schlauch unter Bildung einer Finne (3) gequetscht und versiegelt. Die Finne (3) wird längs ihres Innenrandes (4) hochgefaltet. Die Seitenränder (7) der Finne (3) werden längs einer Seitenkante (8) eingefaltet und der über die Oberseite (10) der Packung vorstehende Rand (11) wird längs der oberen Stirnkante (12) heruntergefaltet und durch Heissklebertupfen (13) an der Packung befestigt. Dadurch wird ein dichter Siegelverschluss erreicht, eine hohe Herstellkadenz ermöglich, und die hergestellte Packung hat ein ästhetisch gutes Aussehen.
