[origin: EP0230887A2] In a cooling or freezing apparatus, a door (6) is provided, which via an elastic seal (4) bears against a support edge (3) of an apparatus housing (1). Also provided is a handle (13) on the door, upon the operation of which an air path into the chill room (2) enclosed by the apparatus housing (1) and the door (6) is freed. In order to make possible using simple means a pressure compensation between the external atmosphere and the chill room without the use of special valve arrangements, upon operation of the handle (13) a limited section (18) of the seal (4) is raised from the support edge (3) by means of an operating tab (14). The operating tab (14) engages in this connection with a bent section (15) behind an expansion fold (8) of the hollow chamber profile (7) of the seal (4). By pulling on the handle (13), the magnetic strip (5) of the seal (4) is raised from the support edge (3) in a region (18) adjacent to the bent section (15) and frees a flow path for air. <IMAGE>
