[origin: WO8700460A1] In order to cast metal strip directly from the molten mass on to the surface of a moving cooling body, at least one part of this surface of the cooling body, which serves as a cooling surface, is immediately chilled by a cooling fluid. The heat removed is evacuated from the casting region in a cooling fluid circuit. The casting surface of the moving cooling body can be exposed to a cooling fluid bath located immediately downstream of the casting region and forming part of a cooling fluid circuit. A device for implementing the process comprises a housing (5, 8) of a cooling bath, essentially closed, which is designed to receive the casting surface of the cooling body (1, 20, 50) and is located immediately next to the casting region of the surface of the cooling body. Preferably, a flow housing defined by guide elements (8A - 8C) inside the housing of the coating bath can enclose at least 50% of the surface of the cooling body. Additional cooling arrangements (42) can also be provided on the surface of the cooling body opposite the casting surface.

Afin de couler des bandes métalliques directement à partir de la masse en fusion sur la surface d'un corps de refroidissement en mouvement, au moins une partie de cette surface du corps de refroidissement, qui sert de surface de coulée, est immédiatement refroidie par un fluide de refroidissement. La chaleur extraite est éloignée de la zone de coulée dans un circuit de fluide de refroidissement. La surface de coulée du corps de refroidissement en mouvement peut être exposée à un bain de fluide de refroidissement agencé immédiatement en aval de la zone de coulée et faisant partie d'un circuit de fluide de refroidissement. Un dispositif d'application du procédé comprend un boîtier (5, 8) de bain de refroidissement sensiblement fermé pour recevoir la surface de coulée du corps de refroidissement (1, 20, 50) et qui est immédiatement adjacent à la zone de colée de la surface du corps de refroidissement. De préférence, un boîtier d'écoulement défini par des éléments de guidage (8A-8C) à l'intérieur du boîtier du bain de refroidissement peut entourer au moins 50% de la surface du corps de refroidissement.
