Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0231718A1] The wheelchair is of the type comprising a chassis (1) equipped with rolling members, the said chassis (1) being collapsible so as to bring the side rolling members closer to one another by reduction of the space between them. The chair possesses an elevating structure (2) articulated to the chassis (1) and consisting of two deformable parallelograms, between which the seat is mounted and which are movable from a substantially horizontal, so-called seated position to a substantially vertical, so- called upright position. The chair is equipped, between the side components of the chassis (1), with an axial caliper, to one, fixed lower arm (6) of which the components of the rolling chassis (1) are linked in an articulated and collapsible manner, and to the other arm (22) of which, the said arm (22) being articulated and movable, the deformable parallelograms of the elevating structure (2) are linked in an articulated manner by means of a centrally folding cross-bar (16) with a latch (21) which controls the collapsing or the locking in the open position of the elevating structure (2) and the rolling chassis (1), a controllable, gas-operated jack (24) being arranged between the arms (6, 22) of the caliper. <IMAGE>
