Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0232761A2] In this appliance, a mass motor-driven in an unbalanced manner is provided in order to drive a tool (1). The mass consists of at least one electric motor (5), with an eccentric centrifugal weight (4) which can be driven by the motor shaft (13), and of a tool carrier (8) fastened on the side of the centrifugal weight (4) to the motor housing (5) and forms a drive unit (3) which is held in a vibratory manner on the housing (2) of the appliance. For the purpose of relieving the load on the motor bearings, the centrifugal weight (4) of the drive unit (3) is rotatably mounted independently on the tool carrier (8) and is driven by the motor shaft (13) via a coupling (29), a reduction gear unit (21) or the like. Here, the centrifugal weight (4) can also be distributed over several identical counter gears (20, 20') of a reduction gear unit (21) so that even these bearings only need to absorb proportional loads. If need be, a dust-extracting fan impeller (31) for a dust-catching device (40) which can be used on the appliance can also be arranged here on the drive unit (3), and in fact so as to be directly driven by the motor shaft (13). Furthermore, the appliance can be designed for this purpose in such a way that dust extraction can be thus carried out either alternatively to or in addition to the surface treatment. <IMAGE>
