[origin: EP0233141A1] In a gripper weaving machine, the gripper head (10, 11) and the gripper guide means (15, 16) are made in particular of a material having no magnetic properties in order for the total weight of the gripper (100, 110) to remain small. To stabilise the gripper during its movement, the running track (8) for the gripper is fitted with magnets (12, 13) and the gripper with particular inlays (17) of magnetic material, on which the magnets exert guiding forces. The inlays (17) are arranged directly alongside the running track (8) for the gripper (100, 110). This makes it possible to keep the inlays (17) comparatively small. The total weight of the gripper (100, 110) thus remains small, fulfilling a prerequisite for reaching a high weft insertion speed. <IMAGE>
