Sound-absorbing false ceiling with a support construction (T) of parallel base section members (4) and parallel support section members (5) which are secured to be displaceable on these latter and which intersect the base section members (4), with individual rigid plates or boards (D) which are fixed on the support section members (5) without any spacing, and with a decorative porous coating (31) which is applied beforehand and forms the visible side of the false ceiling, characterised in that the boards (D) themselves are porous and sound-absorbing and consist of wood chips or organic fibres, or of wood chips with proportions of inorganic materials, which are connected to one another by a bonding agent, that the boards (D) are stuck to one another so as to be resistant to tension and pressure by tongue-and-groove connections (1, 3; 23, 24) and that the decorative porous coating (31) is applied directly to the boards (D).
