Device (4) for cooling a moving metal product (1), which comprises an upper transverse casing (5) and a lower transverse casing relative to the product (1) to be cooled, the said casings being provided with orifices (11, 12) for the passage of a coolant to the said product (1), characterized in that at least the upper casing (5) is divided into at least three juxtaposed compartments (6, 7, 8), a first compartment (7), called the central compartment, corresponding to the central area of the product (1), and two compartments (6, 8), called the lateral compartments, corresponding to the two edge areas of the product (1) respectively, in that the said division into compartments is produced by partitions (9, 10) substantially perpendicular to the base of the said upper casing (5), and in that the said partitions (9, 10) are arranged so as to form, inside the said upper casing (5), a channel which converges in the direction of the displacement of the said product (1).
