Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0234281A2] The web (1) is fed to a cross-cutting device having a cutting roller (8) located opposite a knife roller (7). The web portions (11) formed are retained on the cutting roller (8) by suction orifices and are carried along. A first folding roller (12) and a second folding roller (19) are arranged successively opposite the cutting roller (8) in the direction of rotation of the latter. Each folding roller (12,19) possesses, on its circumference, gripping devices (13,20) which are designed as slit suction nozzles and by which the respective web portion (11) carried along on the cutting roller (8) can be grasped, drawn off from the cutting roller (8), folded along the grasping line and fed to a stacking device (17-18, 23-25). There is a control device, by means of which the gripping device (13) of the first folding roller (12) can be switched on and off. After a stack (18) has been formed by means of the first folding roller (12), its gripping device (13) is switched off and a second stack (25) is formed by means of the second folding roller (19), while the first stack (18) is being conveyed away. The gripping device (13) of the first folding roller (12) is then switched on again. <IMAGE>
