[origin: EP0234337A2] The invention relates to a device for comminuting in particular plant waste or other waste subject to rotting, having at least two conveying worms 16, 18, 19 rotatably mounted preferably in perpendicular housing walls 6, driven in opposite directions or having conveying threads 14 aligned in opposite directions, with longitudinal axes 20, 21 running in planes 12, 13 located on top of one another for the, preferably, multiple rolling of the material to be comminuted and with a comminuting unit having rotating comminuting tools 26. In order to be able to process in addition to smaller waste also bulky and solid waste materials without impedance and with constructionally simple means, the rotating cutting tools 26 of the cutting unit are arranged on the conveying worm 16 located in the lower horizontal plane 12 in a longitudinal end region 25 near to the housing wall. <IMAGE>
