A method of making a curtain wall for sealing liquid-bearing or gas-bearing soil strata, wherein at a fracture location of the curtain wall the plastics sealing sheet is loaded in shear, wherein a trench is formed in the soil (1) and is filled with sealing material (2), a plastic material being introduced into the trench as sealing material (2), the sealing sheet (3) being lowered into it and the plastic material being solidified, a protective layer (4) which at least becomes loose under shear loading a laminated-on lubricating layer being applied onto at least one side of the sealing sheet (3) before it is lowered, or intentional fracture points being produced in the curtain wall by thickening of the sealing sheet (3) at intervals.
