Abstract (en)

[origin: EP0235824A2] A container (1), preferably for receiving refuse, possesses a filling orifice equipped with a closing device and extending over the lower half of its end face. So that the closing device closing the filling orifice cannot basically be opened by unauthorised persons, but can be opened easily and simply for the intended use, the container (1) is equipped with an approximately rectangular closing flap for the filling orifice (7), which is fastened in one edge region to a pivoting shaft (6) or which is equipped with lateral shaft journals mounted in pivot bearings (4,5) arranged in the region of the longitudinal mid-plane of the container (1) on its side walls or end frames (2). The pivoting shaft (6) is welded in one end region to a radial lever, on the end of which is articulated a spring-loaded bolt, the other end of which is guided in a lug or the like which is fastened above or below the pivoting shaft (6) or shaft journal on the side wall of the container or on the end frame (2). By means of the lever, the bolt keeps the flap (8) in its closing position or in its opening position swung up against the upper end wall of the container (1), with the force of the spring which loads this lever. During the pivoting of the flap (8) between its two positions, the lever passes through a dead-centre position. The shaft (6) or one of the journals is equipped with a drive which rotates the shaft between the two flap positions. <IMAGE>
