[origin: US4836699A] An operator panel for printers which includes visible function indicators as well as trigger elements for controlling printer functions has a single function operating and indicating field arranged in a matrix fashion with lines and columns wherein the lines indicate classes of functions and wherein a particular column includes designations as well as indications for the classes of functions; there is at the most one indication and/or one designation in any matrix intersection, a single key is associated with each of the columns; a second panel field is disposed alongside the first one, having a single operating key, and being individually organized commensurate with the lines and in a single column but being independent from said designations of the particular column.

Das Bedienungspult für Drucker, insbesondere für Matrixdrucker enthält eine Vielzahl von Parametern, die durch den Bediener von außen eingestellt, beeinflußt bzw. abgelesen werden können, ohne über den Host und die Schnittstelle über Steuersequenzen ansteuern zu müssen. Eine bessere Übersichtlichkeit und damit eine für wenig visuell veranlagte Bediener erleichterte Bedienbarkeit wird dadurch erzielt, daß in einem Bedienfeld (1) mehrere übereinander angeordnete Gattungs-Funktionszeilen (2,3,4,4a) gebildet sind, daß jeder Gattungs-Funktionszeile (2 bis 4a) eine Bezeichnung (5) zugeordnet ist, daß alle Bezeichnungen (5) übereinanderliegend eine Gattungs-Spalte (6) bilden, daß innerhalb einer Gattungs-Funktionszeile (2 bis 4a) eine oder mehrere, der betreffenden Gattung zuzuordnende Einzelfunktionen (7, 8, 9) bezeichnet sind und daß für die jeweils Spalten (10, 11, 12) bildenden Einzelfunktionen (7, 8, 9) und für die Gattungs-Spalte (6) jeweils nur eine Auslösetaste (13, 14, 15, 16) vorgesehen ist.
