[origin: EP0236809A2] The work table (1) has under the rear part of its table-top (2), constructed as a shaft closure (14), a cable shaft (10), which extends over the width of said table-top and can be closed by end caps (23) which can be unlocked from the inside, and a cable passage slot (16) which leads upwards from said cable shaft and likewise passes essentially over the entire width of the table-top (2) and has a resilient slot seal, the front slot boundary (17) of which is formed by the rear longitudinal edge of the shaft closure (14) which can be swivelled forwards about a horizontal swivel axis (15) into an open position. Thus the passage slot (16) and the cable shaft (10) can be opened in a simple manner for laying the cables which can be fed from the equipment standing on the table surface (9) on the shortest route below the table-top (2) into the cable shaft (10). <IMAGE>
