[origin: US4846783A] An incubator for maintaining a warm environment for infants includes a substantially elongated resting or bed surface which is surrounded by a hood. At least one side wall of the front side has closable access openings. An air outlet for supplying air into the hood and an air inlet for carrying air away from the hood are provided at the peripheral region of the resting surface. In the incubator, the air is guided to maintain a stable incubator air temperature to reduce heat losses from convection and radiation with the hood closed and, with the front side opened, the buildup of a stable warm-air curtain is promoted. For this purpose, the air outlet is disposed along the front side, and the air inlet is disposed along the rear side opposite this front side.

Ein Inkubator zur Aufrechterhaltung einer warmen Umgebung für Kleinkinder, bestehend aus einer im wesentlichen längsgestreckten Liegefläche (7), die von einer Haube (10) umschlossen ist, von der mindestens eine Seitenwand als mit verschließbaren Zugangsöffnungen (16) versehene Frontseite ausgebildet ist, wobei im Randbereich der Liegefläche (7) ein Luftauslaß (21) für die Luftzufuhr in die Haube (10) und ein Lufteintritt (22) für den Luftabfluß aus der Haube (10) angeordnet sind, soll derart verbessert werden, daß die Luftführung zur Aufrechterhaltung einer stabilen Inkubatorlufttemperatur bei geschlossener Haube (10) Wärmeverluste durch Konvektion und Strahlung vermindert und bei geöffneter Frontseite den Aufbau eines stabilen Warmluftvorhangs begünstigt. Dazu ist vorgesehen, daß der Luftauslaß (21) entlang der Frontseite (13) und der Lufteintritt (22) entlang der ihr gegenüberliegenden Rückseite (14) angeordnet sind.
