[origin: US4785873A] Prior to reaching the nozzle's exit, the belt is pressed from outward against the nozzle by means of a rail supported by springs whereby the mould is reliably sealed off under all working conditions. Pressing the belt against the nozzle can also be achieved by means of pistons or the direct hydrostatic and/or hydrodynamic effect of the coolant from the outside or through various combined measures. In order to reduce friction and wear, the nozzle in the area of contact with one belt can be provided with a wear-resistant coating or wear-resistant inserts. This sealing method enables a casting process with high metallostatic pressure, consequently resulting in a high quality product.

Das Kokillenband (13) wird hinter der Oeffnung der Giessdüse (11) von aussen mittels einer durch Federn (15) belasteten Leiste( 14) gegen die Giessdüse (11) gepresst, wodurch unter allen Betriebsbedingungen eine zuverlässige Abdichtung des Giessraumes (21) erfolgt. Die Anpressung des Kokillenbandes (13) kann auch durch Kolben oder durch hydrostatische und/oder hydrodynamische direkte Einwirkung des Kühlmittels von aussen erfolgen, oder es können verschiedene Massnahmen in Kombination zur Anwendung kommen. Um die Reibung und den Verschleiss zu begrenzen, kann die Giessdüse (11) an der Reibstelle mit dem Kokillenband eingesetzte Verschleissplatten (12) aufweisen oder mit einer verschleissfesten Beschichtung versehen sein. Die Abdichtung gestattet, mit hohem metallostatischem Druck zu arbeiten, was ein qualitativ hochstehendes Produkt zu erzielen gestattet.
