Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0237996A2] The suspension device (10) has a tilting panel (11), a beam (15) to be suspended from a ceiling (14), and a hanging arrangement (16) for hanging a part of the body. The tilting panel can be turned to and fro at one end about a pivot axis (19). The other end is connected via a cable (12) to one end of the beam. The hanging arrangement is connected to the other end via a connection part (17). When a person (25) suspended in the hanging arrangement steps on the tilting panel, the free end of the latter moves downwards, this movement being transmitted to that end of the beam to which the cable is secured. In this way, the other end of the beam, and with it the hanging arrangement, moves upwards, as a result of which the suspended person is relieved. This relief is greater or lesser depending on where the pressure point (28) of the foot lies on the tilting panel. If the person has placed his legs upon the tilting panel at different distances from the pivot axis thereof and if he rocks from one foot to the other, or bends and stretches the legs lightly and relatively quickly, continuous alternation between relatively strong and relatively slight relief can be obtained. <IMAGE>
