An an ink sheet for the thermal transfer recording comprises a base layer and a coloring material layer, coated thereon, comprising a coloring material and/or an inorganic or organic fine powder and a heat-fusible material containing 40 or more percent by weight of an ester oligomer having a number-average molecular weight of 500 to 6,000 and a melting point of 60 to 110 DEG c.
