Abstract (en)
Insect infected particulate cereal grain is fed to a centrifugal impact milling machine which has a rotor rotating at a peripheral velocity such as to cause destruction of the insect infestation by impelling the grain into contact with the inner wall of the mill casing and/or impactors located inside the casing without significantly decreasing the particulate range profile of the particulate cereal grain. Pref. peripheral velocity of rotor is 7000-10000 ft. per min. The treatment is carried out at room temp. and an edible additive is mixed with the treated grain to provide a prod. which can be cooked for human consumption.
