For rapid, automatic provision of one pocket pouch (I) in each case, together with a pocket trimming (II) to be sewn onto the latter with a folded edge of material, and for continuous subsequent and likewise rapid and automatic feed of said pocket pouch and trimming to the sewing operation, the sewing machine (4) is assigned a folding device (5) and a conveyor (6) of sewing product. Seen in the sewing feed direction, the folding device is mounted ahead of the sewing machine (4), whereas the conveyor (6) of sewing product is provided between the folding device (5) and the sewing machine (4). <IMAGE>
