[origin: EP0239501A1] The initial organic uraniferous solution contains an organic solvent comprising a system of extractants consisting of a neutral phosphine oxide and an acidic organophosphorus compound; the process comprises the reaction of the abovementioned uraniferous organic solution with an acid chosen from oxalic acid, a mixture of phosphoric and sulphuric acids or a mixture of phosphoric acid from which iron has been removed and sulphuric acid, the uranium remaining in the initial organic solution and the iron moving into the aqueous solution.
