[origin: WO8702205A1] An optical distribution system for 2-way communication from an exchange to a number of user stations (30). The user stations may comprise offices or homes and be arranged to receive bidirectional telecommunications signals, hi-fi stereo signals or other data. The system includes an exchange transmitter (2), exchange receiver (4) and an exchange coupler (10) for coupling the transmitter to an optical fiber line (14). Located remote from the exchange is a passive multi-port coupler (18) including optic fiber tails (16) extending to the user stations. Each user station includes a transmitter (32), receiver (34) and a coupler (36) for coupling the fiber tail (26) to the station transmitter and receiver (32, 34).

Système de distribution optique pour communication à deux voies entre un central et un certain nombre de postes d'usagers (30). Ces derniers peuvent être constitués par des bureaux ou des habitations et être agencés pour recevoir des signaux de télécommunications bidirectionnels, des signaux stéréo hi-fi ou d'autres données. Le système comporte un émetteur de central (2), un récepteur de central (4) et un coupleur de central (10) permettant de coupler l'émetteur à une ligne à fibres optiques (14). Situé loin du central, on trouve un coupleur multi-ports passif (18) comprenant des queues (16) de fibres optiques s'étendant jusqu'au poste d'usager. Chaque poste d'usager comporte un émetteur (32), un récepteur (34) et un coupleur (36) permettant de coupler la queue de fibre (26) à l'émetteur et au récepteur (32, 34) du poste.
