[origin: EP0240744A2] In a roller especially for strip filter presses or machine wire presses which have strip or wire at least partially looped around them, the cross-section of the roller increases at right angles to its longitudinal axis in its edge region with respect to the central region of the roller. This is especially achieved by the roller consisting of a cylindrical core with a ring mounted on each of its edge regions on both sides, the ring, for its part, having a specific cross-section. Such a structural design of a press roller ensures correctly adjustable guidance for the strip or wire on the one hand or, even in the case of the use of two drainage strips, ensures a sealed termination of the two strips in their edge regions. In this way, the pressed material is prevented from emerging at the sides between the strips or wires. If such rings can be moved on the core, the guidance characteristics of rollers can especially be optimised and the sealing characteristics can be improved if two pressing strips are used, since the pressing strips abutting onto one another can be superimposed on one another in their edge region.
