Abstract (en)
[origin: EP0242350A2] To protect the insulation values of electrically insulating rail joints even at relatively high temperatures and to reduce the butt joint, it is proposed to coat the junctions (namely the abutting surfaces and the connecting points for the lugs) with ceramic material. The rail joint is completed by bonding the abutting surfaces and by bonding and screwing the lugs together, using highly resistant rapidly hardening adhesives, in which connection the electrical insulating capability of these adhesives can be left out of consideration when selecting the adhesives.
