Diese besteht aus einem Gassammelraum mit einem Gasabzug nach oben und einem Schlackenabzug nach unten, wobei an den Gassammelraum seitlich eine oder mehrere als Nischen ausgebildete Brennkammern angesetzt sind und Gassammelraum und Nischen von kühlmittelbeaufschlagten Rohrwandkonstruktionen begrenzt sind. Hierbei ist vorgesehen, daß die Tiefe und/oder die Weite jeder Nische und/oder der Neigungswinkel des Nischenmantels veränderlich sind.
