[origin: US4821433A] The boot is composed of a lower shell (1), on which an upper (2) is articulated about a pivot axis (5) coinciding at least approximately with the joint of the foot. The shell (1) has on the outside, at the rear, a rounded portion (12), the radius of curvature of which is centered on the pivot axis (5), to allow the upper (2) to tilt to the rear. Means, such as ribs (17), are provided inside the part (11) of the shell in order to limit the space intended for receiving the skier's heel.

La chaussure comprend une tige (3) articulée sur une coque (1) et basculable en arrière sur cette coque. La tige et la coque sont reliées en arrière par un mécanisme de liaison (6) du type à genouillère comportant un levier (7) articulé à la coque et une biellette (10) articulée à la tige. Un corps élastique (24) est logé entre un prolongement (22) de la biellette et la tige, de telle sorte qu'il s'oppose à une ouverture du mécanisme et assure par conséquent une fermeture automatique de celui-ci. Un élément élastique (19) peut être monté entre l'un des axes d'articulation et une butée (21) pour rendre la liaison élastique.
