Ein quaderförmiger stapelbarer Behälter ist mit einem um den oberen Bereich der Seitenwände umlaufenden kastenförmigen Behälterrandprofil (9, 10) versehen, dessen Oberseite eine Auflage für den Behälterdeckel (13) bildet. Um bei stabiler und stoßfester Konstruktion sowohl die Speicherung von festen als auch von flüssigen Stoffen bei einfacher Handhabung zu ermöglichen, besteht der Behälterdeckel (13) aus einem Abkantzuschnitt mit über die Deckelseitenkanten (21) hinaus verlängerten lappenartigen Fortsätzen (22), die um die Deckelseitenkanten (21) rechtwinkelig abgewinkelt sind. Mit den Fortsätzen (22) sind ein umlaufendes hohles Deckelrandprofil (40) bildende profilierte Bleche (26) verschweißt. Das Deckelrandprofil (40) ist über einen umlaufenden Dichtungsring (12) auf der Oberseite des Behälterrandprofils abgestützt und beide Profile sind durch durch Bohrungen der Randprofile hindurchgeführte Spannschrauben (17) miteinander verspannt. Der mittlere Bereich des Deckels (13) ist mit einer Öffnung versehen, die durch einen weiteren Deckel (43) verschlossen ist.
