[origin: EP0243928A2] The danger signalling system comprises a central exchange (10), at least one twin-core signalling line (14) with a plurality of signallers (20) and a line control circuit (12) which connects the signalling line (14) to the central exchange (10), it being possible for switches (22), which interrupt the signalling line (14) in each signaller (20), to be switched on successively after a line voltage has been applied to one end of the signalling line (14), and the line control circuit (12) having a counter for counting the signallers connected to the line control circuit by the switching on of the switches. The signalling line (14) can optionally be operated from its one or other end. The signaller (20) comprises an operation mode selection circuit for switching over between an initialising phase and a permanent operation phase, a line voltage request circuit, which brings about a switching-on of the switch (22) in the initialising phase when the line voltage changes to a first voltage level, and a signaller detection circuit for storing a signaller address which can be determined by the line control circuit during the initialising phase and for identifying the signaller (20), from which an increase in line current has started in permanent operation of the signalling line (14). <IMAGE>
