Kit for constructing window or door frames, having a main profile (1, 1') on which is provided a fixed extension (3) acting as glass stop and having a slot (6) for accommodating a seal and with which is associated a glass-holding strip (7) which likewise has a slot (8) for accommodating a seal and is intended for insulating glass and can be snapped in on the main profile (1, 1'), characterized in that one or more complementary profiles (10, 10', 10", 10'") for filling the intermediate space between extension (3) and glass-holding strip (7) when single glazing is employed are provided, in that each complementary profile (10, 10', 10", 10'") has a slot (11) formed by two legs (12, 13) and corresponding to the slot (6) on the extension (3) and to the slot (8) on the glass-holding strip, a snap-in web (14) matching the slots (6, 8, 11) and a channel (12, 18) in the region of one leg (12), and in that the other leg (13) extends perpendicularly to the snap-in web (14) and is at the same distance from a centre plane (17) defined by the snap-in web (14) in the case of all complementary profiles (10, 10', 10", 10'").
