[origin: WO8702522A1] A cable-pulling system for moving a cable through a conduit includes a birdie connected to the cable and formed to be located within the conduit, to be movable through the conduit and to create a fluid seal within said conduit. A supply of pressurized fluid is connected to one end of the conduit to create a pressurized region behind the birdie to urge the birdie to move to the opposite end of the conduit. Cable is supplied to permit the movement of the birdie through the conduit; however, the cable is supplied only in response to the existence of the pressurized region, and upon loss of the pressurized region the cable is no longer supplied and movement of the birdie is prevented.

Un système de traction de câble pour déplacer un câble à travers un conduit comprend un bouchon relié au câble et placé dans le conduit, et pouvant se déplacer à travers le conduit et créer un joint étanche aux fluides dans ce conduit. Une alimentation en fluide sous pression est connectée à une extrémité du conduit pour créer une région pressurisée derrière le bouchon et solliciter ce dernier pour qu'il se déplace vers l'extrémité opposée du conduit. On donne du câble pour permettre au bouchon de se déplacer dans le conduit; cependant, l'alimentation en câble ne se fait qu'en réponse à l'existence d'une région pressurisée, et lors d'une perte de la région pressurisée, l'alimentation en câble cesse et le mouvement du bouchon est empêché.
