Method for governing the outlet channel (15) of a pouring vessel (10) for metallic melts, with a sliding gate (12) consisting of a sliding part (sliding plate 8) movably mounted between a cover plate (7) arranged on the underside of the pouring vessel (10) and a pouring part (9, 16). To achieve particularly effective prevention of the freezing in of the melt and/or to avoid static dead zones, the sliding part (sliding plate 8) and/or the cover plate (7) are moved into the closed and/or open or partially open position in such a way that a two-dimensional relative motion between the sliding part (8) and the cover plate (7) arises transversely to the outlet channel (15). <IMAGE>

Verfahren zum Beherrschen des Auslaufkanales (15) eines Gießgefäßes (10) für metallische Schmelzen mit einem Schieberverschluß (12), bestehend aus einem zwischen einer an der Unterseite des Gießgefäßes (10) angeordneten Kopfplatte (7) und einem Ausgußteil (9, 16) beweglich gelagerten Schieberteil (Schieberplatte 8). Zur Erzielung einer besonders effektiven Verhinderung des Einfrierens der Schmelze und/oder zur Vermeidung von statischen Schattenecken wird der Schieberteil (Schieberplatte 8) und/oder die Kopfplatte (7) in Schließ- und/oder Offenbzw. teilweise Offenstellung so bewegt, daß quer zum Auslaufkanal (15) eine zwei-dimensionale Relativbewegung zwischen Schieberteil (8) und Kopfplatte (7) entsteht.
