Um in einer Geschirrspülmaschine den zum Betrieb der Maschine erforderlichen Reiniger dosierfertig zu bevorraten, wird der Reiniger als wasserlöslicher Schmelzblock (9) in einer einseitig offenen Verkaufspackung (1) angeliefert. Diese wird zugleich als Gießform zum Herstellen des Schmelzblocks (9) aus dem Reinigermaterial und als Handhabung zum hautkontaktfreien Einlegen des unverpackten Schmelzblocks (9) in die Maschine ausgebildet.
