In a cladding system for buildings, profiles (3, 4) which hold the cladding panels (2) are fastened to the building wall (1), each profile (3, 4) having a web (9) extending away from the building wall (1) and a holding flange (10) extending approximately parallel to the building wall, and each cladding panel (2) having a suspending strip (12, 13) which is set back relative to its front face (14) in the direction of the building wall (1) and inserted into the recess formed by the web and the holding flange. In order to be able to lay the cladding panels in a simple manner on ceilings as well, while at the same time providing great security against loosening of the cladding panels, each cladding panel (2) has at two mutually parallel edge regions one suspending strip (12, 13) each, one of which projects freely outwards from the edge region and one projects inwards from the edge region, and at the joint gaps (31) between adjacent cladding panels (2) there are provided in each case two profiles (3, 4), the holding flanges (10) of which point in the same direction and each of which receives a suspending strip (12, 13) of in each case one cladding panel (2). <IMAGE>

Bei einem Verkleidungssystem für Bauwerke sind an der Bauwerkswand (1) Profile (3, 4) befestigt, die Verkleidungsplatten (2) halten, wobei jedes Profil (3, 4) einen sich von der Bauwerkswand (1) weg erstreckenden Steg (9) und einen sich etwa parallel zur Bauwerkswand erstreckenden Halteflansch (10) und jede Verkleidungsplatte (2) eine zu ihrer Frontfläche (14) in Richtung zur Bauwerkswand (1) rückversetzte Aufhängeleiste (12, 13), die in die vom Steg und Halteflansch gebildete Ausnehmung eingesetzt ist, aufweist. Um die Verkleidungsplatten in einfacher Weise auch an Decken verlegen zu können, wobei eine große Sicherheit gegen Lösen der Verkleidungsplatten gegeben ist, weist jede Verkleidungsplatte (2) an zwei zueinander parallelen Randbereichen je eine Aufhängeleiste (12, 13) auf, von denen eine vom Randbereich frei nach außen und eine vom Randbereich nach innen ragt, und sind an den Stoßfugen (31) benachbarter Verkleidungsplatten (2) jeweils zwei Profile (3, 4), deren Halteflansche (10) in die gleiche Richtung weisen und von denen jedes eine Aufhängeleiste (12, 13) jeweils einer Verkleidungsplatte (2) aufnimmt, vorgesehen.
